Thank you for your interest in safeguarding adults and working with us to ensure people live their lives safeguarded from abuse and neglect.
My name is Tim Bishop and I have been the Independent Chair of the Adult Safeguarding Board in Northamptonshire since October 2016.
As the Independent Chair of NSAB, I assist partners to hold each other to account when necessary, but also to support each other to work together to safeguard adults most at risk of abuse or neglect. I also act as the spokesperson for the Board and ensure that the legal duties we are charged with are undertaken.
Safeguarding Boards as they now exist were created by the Care Act 2014, and bring together key organisations such as the Local Authority (or authorities as is the case in Northamptonshire), the NHS, and Police, to oversee the prevention of harm to those most at risk, such as for adults who have a physical and/or learning disability, those with mental ill health or older adults who may not have capacity.
I hope you find this website helpful as a member of the public who may have safeguarding concerns about themselves or for a family member, friend or neighbour or in your professional role. Over the coming months we will be adding more resources to the site to help raise awareness of safeguarding in the county.
